LPG Conversion Kits

Diesel LPG Conversion Kits

Diesel LPG Conversion Kits

Diesel LPG conversion kits are much more beneficial in terms of financial and environmental gain when compared to petrol conversions; however, less of them are carried out every year because there are more petrol cars on the road. In this guide, we will explore a bit more about smaller diesel LPG conversion kits.

Not just for cars

Any diesel engine regardless of the size can be converted using the correct kit. Clearly converting your diesel car is more beneficial, but if you convert all of your diesel appliances then the financial savings can be astronomical, epically if you use these appliances regularly.

If you do obtain a kit for one of these smaller items then you should ensure you get a warranty with it. If anything goes wrong, you will be able to get your money back or a replacement without any issue. Obtaining a warranty on your conversion kit is always nice because it offers peace of mind.  Small diesel LPG conversion kits usually come with a one or two year warranty, but you may be able to extend this warranty if you deem it worthwhile. Some of the smaller diesel LPG conversion kits only cost in the region of £30; therefore, a warranty may not even be nessessary.

Small Kits are Easy and Safe to Install

If you are installing a diesel LPG conversion kit on a lawnmower, quad bike, golf buggy or any other small appliance then the whole process should not take you any longer than half an hour (an hour if you have absolutely no mechanical experience). If you are installing a conversion kit on any vehicle that you plan to take out on the road then you need to get it ‘signed off’ by somebody with all the relevant qualifications. This mechanic will offer you a certificate to clarify that your vehicle is safe to use.

Benefits of a LPG Conversion from Diesel

There is a big difference between petrol and diesel conversions because diesel engines have no spark plugs. LPG does not act as a replacement to diesel, but instead runs alongside it. The way both diesel and autogas burn together helps to ensure that the engine is much more efficient. It is estimated that a LPG converted diesel car is 20 X more economical when it comes to emitting dangerous air pollutants.

The addition of LPG to a diesel engine allows it to use a smaller throttle opening; therefore, the amount of diesel that is used is decreased. Tests have proven that you will save roughly 30% on fuel bills if you make the conversion. If your appliance/vehicle is an older model and has a less efficient engine then the savings will increase.

Even though it may not seem like it, there is a big difference in the way petrol and diesel engines use LPG conversion kits. However, in terms of air pollution, diesel is emitting too many harmful substances, and a LPG conversion solves this problem.
